We decided on the Moxy NYC Chelsea hotel for our July 2022 trip to New York. We already had our hearts set on the Chelsea area, and so the only thing left to do was find a hotel. We wanted somewhere modern and comfortable – but most importantly for us – somewhere with an amazing view of the city. The Moxy NYC Chelsea immediately stood out for us. Read on for our full review!

Summary

  • Great location for exploring Manhattan, with many New York attractions within walking distance, and plenty of transport links close by for those further afield;
  • Rooms are compact, but suitable for a couple; beautifully decorated and have plenty of amenities;
  • Rooms have beautiful floor-to-ceiling windows, and higher floor rooms have incredible views of the city.

The Moxy NYC Chelsea is located in Chelsea, just off 6th Avenue, and is within easy walking distance of the Times Square, Empire State Building, Chelsea Market, High Line and Flatiron. The closest park is Madison Square Park, which is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy a Shake Shack. The hotel has a café on the ground floor, perfect for coffee and a quick bite to eat in the morning. There is also a rooftop bar with incredible views to enjoy a drink or two after a day exploring the city.

King View guest room

We stayed in a King View Guest Room. These rooms are on the higher floors of the hotel, and offer incredible views of the city. We specifically requested a room with a corner window. The room is compact, but still comfortable for two. The room is equipped with everything you need, including a smart TV with Netflix etc.; a safe; a hairdryer; hooks and hangers for clothes; a full length mirror; and plenty of USB sockets to charge your gadgets. The room also has a garment steamer, which we used a lot.

View from the room

The views of downtown Manhattan sold us on the hotel. We spent most of our time in the room just gazing out the huge floor-to-ceiling window.
