New York City can be quite overwhelming – especially when deciding where to stay! In this guide, we’ll share where we’ve stayed when visiting NYC, and also cover areas that we fell in love with and plan to stay in next time!
When we visited NYC in 2022, we stayed in the Chelsea area. This is our favourite area to base ourselves as it’s quite central and close to most of the city’s major attractions, yet not as busy Midtown.
Chelsea
Chelsea is home to the Chelsea Market and the High Line, and within easy walking distance of Times Square, Empire State Building, Flatiron Building, Rockefeller Centre and Fifth Avenue. For areas slightly further afield, there is a subway line through Chelsea that, when travelling uptown, will take you to the Upper West Side and Central Park; and when travelling downtown, will take you to the Financial District and across the East River to Brooklyn.
When choosing a hotel, we wanted a room with a great view of the city. We chose the Moxy NYC Chelsea – specifically the King Room with City View. The rooms are small, but modern and clean and have a great view of downtown. Check out our picture below.
